SSU Alternative Patient Care Facility
Community Impact
The SSU Alternative Patient Care Facility was vital in regional pandemic response efforts. It provided a scalable care solution that alleviated pressure on hospitals, protected community health, and showcased GMH Builders’ ability to mobilize rapidly in a crisis.
Rohnert Park, California
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, GMH Builders was contracted by the County of Sonoma to rapidly deliver an alternative patient care facility on the campus of Sonoma State University. This temporary hospital space was designed to expand the region’s medical surge capacity and provide critical healthcare access during a time of urgent need.
The project involved converting an existing campus building into a fully functional, code-compliant medical facility. GMH worked under extreme time constraints and evolving public health guidance to complete the facility in just six weeks, coordinating closely with county officials, SSU, and healthcare partners.
